SCF to host A.S. in nursing information sessions

SCF to offer information on nursing program

MANATEE -- State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota will offer information sessions about the Associate in Science in Nursing degree program. The program's application deadline for the Fall 2013 term is May 10.

Information sessions are scheduled at the following three campuses:

n April 11, noon, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West, building 29, room 157;

n April 18, 2 p.m., at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway East, Medical Technology & Simulation Center, room 205; and

n April 24, noon, at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, building 800, room 843.

Students eligible for the program must have completed prerequisite courses and passed the nursing entrance examination. Students are encouraged to bring their transcripts to the information session to receive guidance about any prerequisites that may be required for the program.

Free document shredding available in Lakewood Ranch

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- People can safely dispose of unneeded documents from 9 a.m. to noon May 4 during a free community shred day.

The shredding service provided by Accu-Shred will dispose of documents such as old bills and receipts, junk mail, account statements and unused pre-approved offers of credit that identity thieves could use to commit fraud.

Drop-off locations will be offered at the Lakewood Ranch Grow Financial Branch on the corner of State Road 64 and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, and Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd.

Personal documents only. No commercial/business documents will be accepted. Limit shredding to two boxes no larger than 24 by 12 by 12 inches.
