April 4, 2013

SARASOTA -- A 19-year-old man has been charged in the slaying of another man last month in Sarasota, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

Kevin L. Peterson was arrested Wednesday evening, and charged with murder in the death of Jovonne Corn, according to a news release.

Corn's body was found in a field in the 1800 block of 19th Street on March 14.

Tips and other information from the public lead detectives to identify Peterson as the suspect. A warrant was issued, and he was arrested about 5:45 p.m by members of the U.S. Marshal's Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, police said.

Peterson was being held without bond at the Sarasota County jail.

Anyone with additional information about the case can call police Detective Dan Riley at (941) 954-7062.
