Manatee deputies searching for domestic battery suspect, 17

April 1, 2013

MANATEE -- Sheriff's deputies were looking for a 17-year-old boy they say threatened an 18-year-old woman with a gun, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 6:35 p.m. Sunday, the victim and the suspect, whose name was not released, were riding in the victim's car in the 3700 block of First Street East, when a domestic dispute began. When the suspect hit the woman, she pulled into a parking lot, apparently to get out of the car, according to a news release.

"While the victim was getting out of the vehicle the victim was threatened with a firearm," the report states.

The victim fled the vehicle. The suspect took the victim's cell phone away from her and fled the area on foot, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim then drove away and reported the incident about 35 minutes later, according to the report.

The suspect has not been located.
