2013 SARASOTA FILM FESTIVAL SPECIAL EVENTS

OPENING NIGHT FILM & PARTY

When: Film at 7 p.m., party at 9 p.m. April 5

Where: Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail

Details: The evening will begin with the bright flashing lights while filmmakers and actors walk the red carpet. Patrons will then proceed to the theater for the showing of the opening night film, "Blackfish." After the film, head to the after party, where you will spend the rest of the evening dancing, drinking and enjoying unique food catered by Mattisons.

Tickets: Film, $25 and party $75. VIP: $125

U.N. WOMEN RECEPTION

When: 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 6

Where: Art Center Sarasota, 707 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota

Details: The Gulf Coast Chapter of UN women, established in 1993 works to increase awareness of women's issues worldwide and to support the work of the UN Women. All of the proceeds from the Through Women's Eyes International Film Festival support the work of the U.S. National Committee for UN Women. Originally established in the United Nations in 1976 as UNIFEM, UN women leads, supports and coordinates work on gender equality and the empowerment of women at global, regional and country levels.

TRIBUTE LUNCHEON

When: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. April 12

Where: Sarasota Yacht Club, 1100 John Ringling Blvd., Sarasota

Details: The Tribute Luncheon is star studded and intimate event. This is an up-close opportunity to witness well-deserved awards to a group of recipients for varied achievements. The Sarasota Yacht Club provides an elegant setting to mingle with festival guests and film lovers while enjoying a lunch prepared by the clubs' talented chefs.

CINEMA TROPICALE CELEBRATION

When: 8:30-11:30 p.m. April 12

Where: Sarasota Yacht Club, 1100 John Ringling Blvd., Sarasota

Details: The Sarasota Yacht Club plays host for the Cinema Tropicale on the final Friday of the festival. Enjoy tropical dining selections, cocktails and live music at this island-themed celebration. Cinema Tropicale honors Florida filmmakers and visiting artists from around the world. Your ticket includes exotic foods and drinks. Celebrate Sarasota as a film-loving community.

FILMMAKER AWARDS & CLOSING NIGHT FILM

When: 6 p.m. April 13

Where: Sarasota Opera House, 61 N. Pineapple Ave., Sarasota

Details: The Sarasota Film Festival's annual salute to the filmmakers and artists whose work inspires and provokes us. This year's award presentation will be followed by the 2013 Closing Night Film which is "Frances Ha."

Tickets: $25 for film/$125 VIP

LATE NIGHT UNWRAP PARTY I SATURDAY, APRIL 13TH 11:37PM-2:00AM

When: 11:37 p.m.-2 a.m.

Where: The Francis, 1289 N. Palm Ave., Sarasota

Details: The Wrap Party is the final late night of dining, dancing and discussing our favorite films. VIP level includes complimentary drinks and appetizers, while everyone has access to the dance floor, a cash bar, and DJ. Due to the high profile of the guests in the film and music industry, entry to this year's event will be extremely restricted.

Tickets: $30/$100 VIP
