Manatee burglar takes thousands in jewelry

— A burglar got away with $30,000 in jewelry from a Manatee home Saturday, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

According to a news release, the victim returned to his home in the 4900 block of 61st Avenue Terrace West after playing golf to find the rear sliding glass door of his residence open.

He then determined that approximately $30,000 worth of watches, necklaces and other assorted jewelry items had been stolen from his bedroom.

No signs of forced entry were present. The burglary occurred sometime between 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., deputies determined.
