Man taken into custody in Bradenton after suicide threat

MANATEE -- A man who had threatened to kill himself with a gun was taken into custody late Thursday after a standoff with authorities, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 9:30 p.m., the man's family members called the sheriff's office report that the man in the 5800 block of Cottonwood Street was threatening to kill himself, according to a news release.

"A tactical deployment was quickly developed and executed. The residence and immediate area were successfully secured and dialogue attempted with negative results," the report states.

All of a sudden, the man came out of the residence and was taken into custody under the Baker Act.

No one was injured, according to the sheriff's office.
