Recap: Pittsburgh vs. NY Yankees

Melky Mesa had a grand slam and scored two runs and Kevin Youkillis had three RBI and two hits, including a two-run homer, as the New York Yankees outslugged the Pittsburgh Pirates, 11-9, on Saturday.

Addison Maruszak and Brennan Boesch each plated a run for the Yankees, who saw starter Ivan Nova pick up his first win of spring training after throwing five innings of six-hit, four run ball, while striking out four batters.

Lucas May went 2-for-2 with two RBI and Pedro Alvarez had two doubles and one RBI for Pittsburgh, which saw starter Phil Irwin last 2 1/3 innings and give up six runs on seven hits in defeat.
