MANATEE -- A man who backed into another vehicle in the parking lot of El Paisano, 5800 block of 15th Street East, and then attempted to leave the area early Sunday, was arrested for driving without a valid license and improper backing, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

The suspect was identified as Rupert Garcia-Diaz.

Diaz backed into the car of an off-duty deputy working a security detail at El Paisano about 2 a.m., the report said.

Two off-duty deputies stopped and arrested Diaz. Damage to the deputy's vehicle was estimated at $200. Damage to Diaz' vehicle was estimated at $300.
