Recap: Chicago Cubs vs. Japan

Javier Baez hit a pair of homers and scored three runs to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 7-5 win over Japan on Friday.

Alfonso Soriano, Josh Vitters and Daniel Vogelbach each added an RBI for the Cubs. Travis Wood allowed five runs -- four earned -- on seven hits and struck out four over 4 2/3 innings in the start for Chicago.

Hayato Sakamoto and Sho Nakata both clubbed two-run homers and Shinnosuke Abe drove in one run for Japan, which has already advanced to the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic. Starter Tetsuya Utsumi gave up three runs on five hits over three innings.
