Manatee powerboat firm receives national award

Published: March 15, 2013

MANATEE -- Russell Hann, president and Kevin McLaughlin, vice president of Hann Powerboats, a premier provider of large military-style go-fast boats, headquartered in south Manatee County, will receive an Export Achievement Certificate on Monday from U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan.

The Export Achievement Certificate was created in 2001 to recognize small- and medium-sized enterprises that have entered the international marketplace for the first time or that have successfully entered a new market. The award program is designed to showcase the important role that exporting plays in our national economy and to highlight the contributions made by exporters to their local communities.

Hann has aggressively pursued markets in Africa and the Middle East. With the help of the Tampa Bay U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Bradenton County Economic Development Council, Hann has opened new markets in Nigeria, Cameroon, Panama and Saudi Arabia.
