MANATEE -- A 24-year-old Sarasota man was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated battery in connection with a parking lot fight at El Paisano restaurant and night club.

Jaime Martinez and a victim were at El Paisano, 5803 15th St. E., Bradenton, and, for a reason unknown to law enforcement at this time, Martinez attacked a man in the parking lot as they were leaving early Monday morning, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

Deputies believe Martinez struck the victim about the head and body with a belt and buckle causing lacerations and a broken collar bone, the report states.

The victim knew the defendant by name and identified him to deputies as the subject who whipped him repeatedly with a belt and buckle, according to the report.

Martinez posted $7,500 bail and was released later on Monday, according to the sheriff's office website.
