Children's author Jan DiRuzzo book signing set

MANATEE -- Jan DiRuzzo, children's author of "The Lost Mermaid -- A Shem Creek Moonlight Jamboree," will be on hand to sign copies of her book noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Sea Hagg, 12304 Cortez Road. Lily the Mermaid, a character from her book, and Lily's favorite pirate sidekick, Captain Joe, will also make a guest appearance.

This mythical tale is set in a coastal seascape, where the reader meets meet loggerhead turtles, dolphins, fish, oysters, and crabs at a musical jamboree. The story also offers a valuable lesson about the importance of kindness and the danger of judging others by appearance or language.
