BRADENTON -- A 53-year-old Bradenton man remained in the Manatee County jail Thursday night on multiple charges stemming from a domestic incident.
The Bradenton Police Department believes Dennis D. Wiggins choked a woman victim, impeding her breathing and circulation of blood, according to an arrest report.
The incident occurred about 6 p.m. Wednesday in Bradenton city limits, with the actual address redacted on the report.
During the incident, Wiggins also inflicted physical or mental injury upon a child, the report adds.
The woman victim told officers that Wiggins also pulled her ears, shoved her with an open hand and struck her on the top of her head with a "hammer-like" punch, according to the report.
After being read his rights, Wiggins told officers that he pulled the woman's ears because she became upset over a jar of spaghetti sauce and did not know how else the handle the situation.
Wiggins told officers he did not strangle the victim or strike her.
Wiggins arrest report states he was not given bond.
