Snowstorm cancels flights between SRQ and Washington, D.C.; delays flights to NYC

March 6, 2013

MANATEE -- An expected heavy snowstorm in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday led to the cancellation of two flights between Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and the nation's capital.

The two flights, one scheduled to arrive from Reagan National Airport at 11:24 a.m. and one scheduled to depart at noon, are both operated by US Airways.

As of 3:20 p.m., the only other flight possibly affected by weather in the northeast was a JetBlue flight to Laguardia International Airport in New York. Originally set to depart at 5:21 p.m., it has been delayed until 8:30 p.m, according to SRQ's website.

On Tuesday, the same weather system had forced the cancellation of flights between SRQ and Chicago.
