Ninth Street West to close Saturday for Pirate Fest

Published: March 5, 2013

Ninth Street West between 13th and 17th avenues will close from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for the annual Pirate Fest. Motorists are asked to plan their trips in advance and either use 14th Street West or First Street/U.S. 301 for northbound or southbound travel. There will be detour signs to guide motorists around the closed street. Thirteenth and 17th avenues will not close, although motorists should expect minor traffic congestion most of Saturday morning. Businesses in the area of the road closure have been asked to use the back entrances on 10th Street West during Pirate Fest. Business owners may call the Pirates at 747-3031 (Kris Koch at ext. 4361 or Sean Ray at ext. 4381) with questions or concerns. Pirate Fest’s hours are 10 a.m. 1 p.m. on 9th Street in front of McKechnie Field. There will be live music, food and drinks, booths representing several local businesses and organizations, baseball players signing autographs and more. Pirate Fest is free to attend but you will need a ticket to attend the game between the Pirates and the Minnesota Twin, which starts at 1:05 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase at the McKechnie Field box office or visit www.pittsburghpirates.com.
