Red Sox agree to terms with Middlebrooks, 18 others

Published: March 4, 2013

The Boston Red Sox have agreed to terms with 19 players, including third baseman Will Middlebrooks, on contracts for 2013.

Middlebrooks made Kevin Youkilis expendable last season, taking over as Boston's starting third baseman after the Red Sox dealt Youkilis to the White Sox.

In 75 games during an injury-filled first big league season in 2012, Middlebrooks hit .288 with 15 homers and 54 runs batted in.

Other notable Boston players re-signed were outfielders Daniel Nava and Ryan Kalish, as well as infielders Pedro Ciriaco and Mauro Gomez, and pitchers Felix Doubront and Rubby De La Rosa.
