Bayshore High School offers students the opportunity to go above and beyond what is required of them in high school via the dual enrollment system, and junior Marcos Aviles has gone even further than that, earning Manatee Technical Institute's student of the year award for 2012-13.
MTI gives this award to the student who has excelled the most academically, and who has displayed the greatest class participation, work ethic, and study habits.
"Marcos was once a frequent flyer in ISS (in-school suspension)," said ISD (in-school detention supervisor) Bridget Jones. "I am elated about his success."
Marcos is currently studying digital design, and proved himself to be the hardest-working and most award-worthy student on campus.
"I feel successful," said Marcos "I am really proud of myself."
Any students who are interested in taking dual enrollment courses at MTI of State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota should speak with their guidance counselors.
