Recap: Atlanta vs. Washington

Published: March 1, 2013

Bryce Harper clubbed his first homer of spring training and the Washington Nationals held off the Atlanta Braves, 6-5, Friday night.

Harper smacked a solo homer off Julio Teheran in the first inning and Carlos Rivero's three-run double highlighted a five-run eighth for the Nationals.

The Braves got an RBI single from Todd Cunningham in the bottom of the ninth inning, and Atlanta loaded the bases with two outs, but Elmer Reyes grounded out to end the game.

Jason Heyward homered for the third time this spring, this time connecting off Jordan Zimmermann in the first inning. Zimmermann fanned four over three frames for the Nats, while Teheran struck out five over three innings for the Braves.
