No matter what kind of jazz you like, this year's Sarasota Jazz festival probably has something that's right up your proverbial alley.
The eight-day festival -- the 33rd annual installment -- gets going Friday with a free concert in Phillippi Estate Park that features the Manatee High School Jazz Ensemble and Tampa stalwarts the Kenny Loomer Jazz Quintet.
The next week brings everything from Chicago swing (JB Scott's Swingin' Allstars, March 5), a Benny Goodman tribute band (Terry Myers with a 17-piece big band, March 8) and the harmony quartet the Four Freshmen on March 9.
There's also a Jazz caravan on March 6 that takes festival-goers by trolley to jazz clubs around the Sarasota area.
The festival ends March 10 with a dinner dance at Marina Jack's featuring vocalist June Garner.
The concerts on March 5,7,8 and 9 area at the Players Theatre, 838 Tamiami Trail. Prices for each event vary.
Details: March 3-10, various Sarasota locations. Information: 941-366-1652, www.jazzclubsarasota.org.
