Back when Bon Jovi first powered their way onto MTV, everyone who wasn't a fan thought they were a musically vacant band trying to make it on the strength of Jon Bon Jovi's pretty-boy looks.
Thirty-years later, Bon Jovi's still around and no one says that anymore. Even if you don't especially like the band's music, you have to admit they have some substance and stamina. They may not be the most innovative band around, but they're solid and their live shows are, by all accounts, phenomenal.
And, for what it's worth, Jon's still pretty handsome.
The current "Because We Can" Tour has been getting solid reviews from critics and rave reviews from fans. It's packed with hits and Jon Bon Jovi is apparently as charismatic as ever. It comes to the Tampa bay Times Forum in Tampa Friday.
Details: 7:30 p.m. March 1, Tampa Bay Times Forum, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa; $31.40-$157.70. Information: 813-301-2500, www.tampabaytimesforum.com.
