MANATEE -- More than $39,000 in jewelry was stolen during a house burglary in the River Club South neighborhood in East Manatee, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The break-in happened sometime between 6 and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at a house in the 10500 block of Cheval Place. Someone smashed the sliding glass door to the master bedroom and entered without setting off the alarm, according to a news release.
Once inside, they opened "just a few specific dresser drawers" and removed more than $39,000 in jewelry, including a $30,000 solid 18-karat gold Cartier watch, and possibly placed the items in a pillow case, the sheriff's office said. They then exited through the broken glass door.
The report said there were no known suspects in the case.
