Names and Faces for Feb. 25

Dr. Kumar Mahadevan, president and CEO of Mote Marine Laboratory, will move to president emeritus status in May after 27 years of leadership at one of Sarasota's most well-known nonprofit organizations. The change was announced jointly by Mahadevan and the Board of Trustees.

Mahadevan will continue to work for Mote as an advocate and ambassador in the role of president emeritus for the next two years to enable a smooth transition to new leadership. He will assist the new CEO in promoting and developing support for Mote's world-class research and education programs.

At Mahadevan's recommendation, Mote's Board of Trustees has decided to appoint Dr. Michael Crosby, the lab's senior vice president for research, to the role of president and CEO. These changes will become official May 16, following Mote's annual Board of Trustees meeting.

Jesse R. Butler has joined Dickinson & Gibbons, P.A. as an associate. Butler is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida. He is admitted to the Florida Bar, and is a Board member of the Young Lawyers Division of the Sarasota County Bar Association. Butler's practice areas with the firm will include appellate practice, commercial and complex litigation, construction litigation, insurance defense, product liability, trucking litigation, and personal injury litigation.

Brett M. Henson has joined Dickinson & Gibbons, P.A. as an associate. Henson is a graduate of Stetson University and received his Juris Doctorate from the Stetson University College of Law. He is admitted to the Florida Bar. Henson's practice areas with the firm will include construction litigation, motor vehicle negligence, premises liability and personal injury litigation.

Rebecca Samler, PA, Realtor with Re/Max Alliance Group, has earned the distinction of being a 2013 Five-Star Best in Client Satisfaction Real Estate Agent. This is Samler's eighth consecutive year attaining this honor. Samler is a ReMax Hall of Fame Realtor, a consistent multimillion dollar producer and has worked in real estate for 19 years on the suncoast of Florida.

Beach, has earned the Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist designation in recognition of her experience, knowledge and expertise in the luxury home market. "Bowman is an example of a real estate professional who has worked to develop market knowledge and the special skills and competencies necessary to provide exceptional service in the fine homes and estates marketplace," said Institute President Laurie Moore-Moore, upon announcing Bowman's designation.

Bowman is an award-winning real estate professional who has gone through special training and met performance standards in the upper tier market. She has been in real estate since 2004. She holds real estate licenses in Georgia and Florida.

Denise West, a physician assistant, is joining West Coast Dermatology's Sarasota office.

As a certified and experienced Physician Assistant in General Dermatology and Skin Cancer Detection, West has been working in Sarasota for almost a decade and has developed a strong and loyal following. West received her bachelor degree from Florida State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and her master's degree from The University of Florida.

She continues to be anactive member with the Florida Association of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. As a member of the Junior League of Sarasota, West regularly does volunteer work with various organizations and underserved populations in the community.
