Bradenton murder suspect booked into jail

Charles Jones, murder, armed robbery, no bond.

MANATEE -- A man wanted on felony murder and armed robbery charges in Manatee County was booked into the Manatee County jail Tuesday.

Charles Jones, 29, was apprehended Feb. 11 near Cincinnati by the U.S. Marshal's Service, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. Early Wednesday, he was being held without bond at the Manatee jail, according to the jail website.

Jones allegedly accompanied James Brady and Jared Lee during the attempted robbery of two men outside a residence in the 4200 block of 24th Street West about 10:20 p.m. on Jan. 20.

Brady allegedly pointed a gun at one of the victims who pulled out a handgun in self-defense, according to the sheriff's office. Brady was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones and Lee are charged with felony murder for Brady's death, which occurred during the commission of a crime, as well as robbery.

The victim who fired his weapon was not charged.

Lee was arrested Jan. 25 and is being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.
