Juco baseball: SCF gets road win vs. Broward College

DAVIE -- The State College of Florida Manatees got back on the winning track after their seven-game streak was snapped over the weekend with a 4-1 victory Monday over the host Broward College Seahawks. Andrew Widell lead the offense, going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Dalton Busby was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Conner Oliver went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Starting pitcher Ben Ancheff picked up the victory, going 6 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts and scattering seven hits. Dario Santangelo picked up the save in relief for SCF (12-5).

Prep softball: Tigers beat Bruins, improve to 4-1

BRADENTON -- The visiting Palmetto Tigers improved to 4-1 for the season with a 19-6 rout over the Bayshore Bruins in a five-inning game shortened by the mercy rule. Leading the offensive attach for the Tigers were Britton Stancil (2-for-4, five steals); Jordan Whitaker (2-for-3, two steals); Kendall Vedder (3-for-5, three RBIs); Keeley Ecker (2-for-3); and Sarrah Diaz (2-for-4, three RBIs). Auria Mounts picked up her third win of the season on the mound with seven strikeouts, two walks and six hits in five innings.
