LAKEWOOD RANCH The 7th Annual Lakewood Ranch Youth Fishing Tournament is set for 8:3011 a.m. Saturday, followed by lunch and awards starting at 11 a.m.
Hosted by the LWR Anglers Club and Lakewood Ranch Community Activities, the annual catch and release event is for Lakewood Ranch anglers age 5 to 15. Trophies and prizes are awarded by age groups, according to a news release from the event hosts.
The tournament will take place at Summerfield Lake at the east end of Summerfield Parkway.
All registered participants will receive giveaways, including official tournament T-shirts and cooler bags.
A free lunch will be provided to all registered young anglers.
Parents and other family members may purchase a lunch for $3.
While there is no participation fee, pre-registration is required. Registration forms are available at www.lwrcac.com or by calling 941-757-1530.
Space is limited to the first 150 anglers registered. If space is available, walk-ons will be accepted the day of the event, the news release states.
All participating children must have a signed waiver form turned in to participate. Children must be accompanied by an adult. There is no charge for the accompanying adult to attend.
One rod per angler is the limit with some loaner rods and reels available for use if a child should need one. No experience is necessary. Personal tackle is encouraged. A rain date has been set for Sunday
