MANATEE -- A Manatee County man faces armed robbery and grand theft auto charges following a domestic dispute that turned violent, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

The suspect, identified as Scott Donovan Berry, 37, had been in a domestic relationship with the victim until it ended in December.

The suspect has not lived at the residence for two weeks but still had belongings there. Sunday, the victim told the suspect he could not come in and locked the screen door.

Berry pulled the door open and entered the residence where a struggle ensued. Berry at some point put the victim in a choke hold and said "this time I have a gun," the sheriff's report said.

Berry then went through the victim's pockets and took his car keys, $50 in gold coins and a wallet containing $73 in cash. Berry fled in the victim's 2000 white Pontiac Sunbird with a tag of M075ME, the sheriff's office said.

The victim was not injured during the confrontation.

This was the second time in a week that Berry has stolen the victim’s vehicle and money, the sheriff's office reported.
