Seminoles

Bayshore relief pitcher Julian Valdivia came in to squelch a five-run third inning rally by host Southeast and kept the Seminoles in check the rest of the way to earn a victory as the Bruins prevailed 8-6 in prep boys baseball action Friday.

A four-run sixth inning provided the wining margin for the Bruins (2-1) as the Noles fell to 0-2.

Justin Metzger went 2-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the offensive attack. Derek Paparella was 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Valdivia was 1-for-3 with three runs scored.

Juco baseball

STATE COLLEGE OF FLORIDA 6, TALLAHASSEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE 5 -- The host Manatees won their seventh game in a row, scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on a two-base error by the Eagles' third baseman for a come-from-behind victory.

Leading the offensive attack were Jarred Smith (2-for-4, double), Orlando Rivera (2-for-4) and Andrew Widell (2-for-3).

Smith picked up the win on the mound for SCF (11-4).

Softball

PALMETTO 2, BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 1 -- Breanna Fox and Auria Mounts combined to limit the visiting Panthers to a single run and lift the Tigers to 3-1.

Sarah McClintic drove in a run with a single for Palmetto. Madison Dreier led BCS with two hits.

n JV: Summer Aylward went 2-for-3 and scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Palmetto beat BCS in the junior varsity game. Raven Eldridge also had two hits, and Alexis Murrell got the win for the Tigers (2-1-1).
