Small Business Development Center to host workshops

SARASOTA -- The Small Business Development Center at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota will host "Women/Minority and Service Related Disabled Veterans Certification" workshops at the North Sarasota Business Resource Center in "The Hive," 2714 N. Osprey Ave.

The free workshops will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays: Feb. 13, March 13, April 10, May 8 and June 12.

Business owners will learn how to complete the application for Women/Minority Business Enterprise certification and discover the contract opportunities available for women and minority businesses in government and private sectors.

Snacks will be provided. Seating is limited.

Gateway Bank donates to HOPE Family Services

MANATEE -- Gateway Bank has donated seven bags of clothing items with an approximate value $500 to HOPE Family Services in Bradenton. The contributions were made primarily by Gateway Bank employees, along with a Gateway client. HOPE Family Services (HOPE) is a private, not for profit corporation that provides services to survivors of domestic violence to help them stay safe, gain strength, and evaluate their options.

A Life at Home awarded accreditation

BRADENTON -- Community Health Accreditation Program Inc., (CHAP) announced that A Life At Home-Home Health Care of Bradenton has been awarded CHAP accreditation under the CHAP Private Duty Standards of Excellence.

CHAP accreditation demonstrates that A Life At Home meets the industry's highest nationally recognized standards. Rigorous evaluation by CHAP focuses on structure and function, quality of services and products, human and financial resources, and long term viability.

Statewide Protection wins Sarasota contract

PALMETTO -- Statewide Protection Associates, LLC of Palmetto has been awarded a contract with Sarasota County Government to provide Security Guard Services for the Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Department.

Statewide Protection Associates clients include federal, state, and local government agencies, insurance companies, financial groups, educational systems, residential communities, retail, and health care organizations.

Women Owners to celebrate non-profit status

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- WOoF, Women Owners of Florida, Inc., is celebrating its newly granted non-profit status with a "fun" raiser at WineStyles, 8225 Natures Way, Unit 111, 6-8 p.m. March 13.
