MANATEE — A man was robbed at gunpoint early Friday morning after a purchase at a convenience store, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

The victim told deputies he was walking east in the 9200 block of Old Tampa Road at about 1:35 a.m., after buying beer at a 7-Eleven when he was approached by two persons wearing black clothing, according to a news release.

One suspect produced a silver firearm and demanded the suspect's wallet. The victim complied and the suspects fled in an unknown direction, the news release said. The victim was not injured during the incident.
