Bradenton man, 35, killed in 2-vehicle crash near airport

SARASOTA -- A 35-year-old Bradenton man was fatally injured in a vehicle crash near the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport that left another motorist seriously hurt.

The accident occurred at 7:33 a.m. Friday on U.S. 41 in Sarasota, just north of Seagate Drive, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Daniel P. Giguere was driving a 2004 Nissan 350Z south on U.S. 41 approaching Seagate Drive when he lost control of the vehicle and traveled into he northbound lanes, the report states.

A Ford Ranger truck heading north on U.S. 41 by a 22-year-old Sarasota man struck the right side of Giguere's vehicle. The driver of the truck was taken to Blake Medical Center and was listed in serious condition, according to the news release.

Giguere was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.
