MANATEE -- State Rep. Ray Pilon, R-Sarasota, has withdrawn House Bill 147, legislation that would have diluted Manatee's representation on the Southwest Florida Water Management District, or SWFWMD.

Manatee County commissioners on Thursday were discussing planning a trip to Tallahassee to oppose the bill when it was announced it had been withdrawn.

The bill would have cut membership on the board from 13 to nine members. Manatee would have been represented by someone who also would represent Sarasota County.

According to the Florida House of Representatives website, Pilon withdrew the bill Thursday morning. It had originally been filed on Jan. 14.
