The Manatee County Commission on Thursday voted 7-0 to approve plans for a residential development, parts of which may be subject to flooding, on Mill Creek in East Manatee.
The Serenity Creek development calls for 111 single-family, detached homes to be built on 64.79 acres, according to county documents.
It would be located in an area of known flooding adjacent to Mill Creek, near the intersection of Pope Road and State Road 64, documents said.
The developer, Meritage Homes of Florida, wasseeking to add 26 more lots than were previously approved, for a gross density of 1.71 dwelling units per acre, documents said.
Planners added a number of stipulations to the proposal dealing with flooding, such as drainage easements and notices to buyers, documents said.
