1. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

•  Comment: The defending national champions reeled in 14 ESPN Top 150 recruits, including the top inside linebacker among a total of 26 new players.

•  Top players: ATH Derrick Henry, ILB Reuben Foster, WR Robert Foster, DT Dee Liner, DE Jonathan Allen

2. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

•  Comment: Following an undefeated season, Urban Meyer built his class around the secondary, with four defensive backs ranked among the ESPN Top 150 and a dozen ESPN Top 150 recruits overall.

•  Top players: CB Eli Apple, CB Gareon Conley, ILB Trey Johnson, WR Jalin Marshall, S Vonn Bell

3. FLORIDA GATORS

•  Comment: UF landed 11 ESPN Top 150 recruits, including the nation’s top cornerback and running back.

•  Top players: CB Vernon Hargeaves, RB Kelvin Taylor, OLB Daniel McMillan, DT Caleb Brantley, WR DeMarcus Robinson

4. NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH

•  Comment: ESPN said it’s Notre Dame’s first top-five class since 2006.

•  Top players: OLB Jaylon Smith, DT Eddie Vanderdoes, RB Greg Bryant, ATH Max Redfield, ATH Tarean Folston

5. MICHIGAN WOLVERINES

•  Comment: Offensive line was the focus, with five players rated in the ESPN Top 300.

•  Top players: RB Derrick Green, CB Jourdan Lewis, OG David Dawson, ATH Dymonte Thomas, OG Patrick Kugler

6. LOUISIANA STATE TIGERS

•  Comment: LSU reeled in seven ESPN Top 150 recruits, including three from within the state.

•  Top players: ATH Kendell Beckwith, CB Jeryl Brazil, DT Greg Gilmore, OT Ethan Pocic, DT Maquedius Bain

7. OLE MISS REBELS

•  Comment: Ole Miss landed its dream class and arguably its best-ever recruiting class thanks to the top-rated defensive end, offensive tackle and receiver and the country.

•  Top players: DE Robert Nkemdiche, OT Laremy Tunsil, WR Laquon Treadwell, S Antonio Conner, OT Austin Golson

8. TEXAS A&M AGGIES

•  Comment: The Aggies reeled in six ESPN Top 150 recruits, including several talented offensive players.

•  Top players: TE Derrick Griffin, WR Ricky Seals-Jones, WR Sebastian LaRue, DT Justin Manning, QB Kohl Stewart

9. UCLA BRUINS

•  Comment: The Bruins focused on the back end on defense and up front on offense and landed six ESPN Top 150 recruits.

•  Top players: S Priest Willis, DE Kylie Fitts, OLB Deon Hollins Jr., S Tahaan Goodman, ILB Isaac Savilinaea

10. FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES

•  Comment: Another strong defensive class is headed into Tallahassee.

•  Top players: LB Matthew Thomas, CB Jalem Ramsey, ATH Ryan Green, DT DeMarcus Walker, ATH Levonte Whitfield

11. GEORGIA BULLDOGS

•  Comment: Georgia landed five ESPN Top 150 recruits and filled position needs with this deep 32-man class, most notably in the back seven.

•  Top players: CB Shaq Wiggins, ATH Tramel Terry, QB Brice Ramsey, S Tray Matthews, C Brandon Kublanow

12. AUBURN TIGERS

•  Comment: New coach Gus Malzahn not only salvaged the class, but has one of the nation’s top defensive line units.

•  Top players: DE Carl Lawson, DT Montravius Adams, DE Elijah Daniel, QB Jeremy Johnson, WR Tony Stevens

13. CLEMSON TIGERS

•  Comment: Not a real flashy class, but the Tigers landed six ESPN Top 150 recruits and addressed a lot of needs, particularly on defense.

•  Top players: CB Mackensie Alexander, ILB Ben Boulware, OLB Dorian O’Daniel, RB Tyshon Dye, OG Tyrone Crowder

14. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TROJANS

•  Comment: USC only signed 13 recruits, but nine were ranked in the ESPN Top 150.

•  Top players: S Su’a Cravens, QB Max Browne, DT Kenny Bigelow, S Leon McQuay III, OLB Michael Hutchings

15. OKLAHOMA SOONERS

•  Comment: The Sooners only landed two ESPN Top 150 recruits, but added firepower on offense.

•  Top players: RB Keith Ford, OT Josiah St. John, DE D.J. Ward, QB Cody Thomas, ATH Stanvon Taylor

16. WASHINGTON HUSKIES

•  Comment: The Huskies’ class has impressive skill coming in at wide receiver and defensive end and added three ESPN Top 150 recruits.

•  Top players: WR Damore’ea Stringfellow, DT Elijah Qualls, WR Darrell Daniels, QB Troy Williams, DE Joe Mathis

17. NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS

•  Comment: The Huskers reloaded at linebacker and landed their quarterback of the future.

•  Top players: DE Randy Gregory, QB Johnny Stanton, ATH Tre’vell Dixon, OLB Marcus Newby, OLB Josh Banderas

18. SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS

•  Comment: The Gamecocks once again have good speed, athleticism and quality up front headed to Columbia.

•  Top players: DT Kelsey Griffin, RB David Williams, QB Connor Mitch, ILB Larenz Bryant, OT Alan Knott

19. TEXAS LONGHORNS

•  Comment: The Longhorns have three ESPN Top 150 prospects in the offensive trenches.

•  Top players: C Darius James, OT Kent Perkins, OT Jake Raulerson, WR Jacorey Warrick, CB Antwuan Davis

20. OREGON DUCKS

•  Comment: After Chip Kelly’s departure, new head coach Mark Helfrich kept the Ducks’ class intact for the most part.
