MANATEE -- A 33-year-old Myakka City man was listed in critical condition after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a water-filled ditch Monday near the intersection of Mobley Pond Lane and State Road 70.

The injured man was driving south on Mobley Pond Lane in a 1994 Mazda at 5:20 p.m., and had two passengers with him, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

For an unknown reason, the driver drove southwest off the roadway into the ditch, landing upside down, according to the report.

A 40-year-old man and a 24-year-old man in the vehicle, both also from Myakka City, were uninjured, the report states.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Blake Medical Center, the report adds.
