BRADENTON -- A bicyclist was injured Tuesday morning when he attempted to cross First Street in Bradenton.

About 9 a.m. the bicyclist was crossing the northbound lanes near Sixth Avenue West, but not at a crosswalk, when he was struck by a vehicle.

The bicyclist hit the windshield, rolled on top of the vehicle shattering its sunroof and fell from the car, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

The injured bicyclist was taken to Manatee Memorial with injuries. No one in the vehicle was hurt.

The bicyclist could face pending charges or citations, according to police.

The northbound lanes of First Street from Martin Luther King Avenue to Sixth Avenue West were blocked off as officers investigated, but they have since been reopened.
