Manatee man arrested after shotgun incident

MANATEE — A 48-year-old Bradenton man was in the Manatee County jail Monday after authorities say he intentionally pointed a shotgun at a victim and told her he was going to kill her.

Archer Anderson Bolden was being held on a $7,500 bond after he was charged with aggravated assault related to an incident that occurred 11:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website.

A female victim told deputies that Bolden accused her of stealing his glasses and change. The victim said she told Bolden she didn’t take anything, but he went into his residence and retrieved a shotgun, a sheriff’s office arrest report states.

Archer then came back outside, pointed the shotgun at the victim and told her he was going to kill her, the report said.

The victim ran inside a residence, heard a shotgun blast and called 911.

Bolden at first told arriving deputies he didn’t own a shotgun, but later he said he owned a shotgun and had just taken it out to clean it, never pointed it at anyone and didn’t discharge it.

But a witness told deputies she saw Bolden point the gun and fire it. After Bolden was arrested, deputies searched him and found a spent shotgun shell in his right front pocket, the report states.
