February 4, 2013

MANATEE -- Two police dogs, Buird and Bertolino, led deputies to a burglary suspect hiding in the woods behind the 800 block of 46th Street Court East near Palmetto Monday evening, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported.

The suspect had fled from a home in the 6700 block of Canal Road, after being interrupted by the returning resident. The resident saw a stranger jump out his back window, and called 911, the sheriff's office reported.

Deputies and the police dogs responded, tracking the suspect to the wooded area.

Identified as Roger J. Jibson, 35, the suspect discarded a large boot knife upon being found. The victim's property was recovered from the suspect and returned to him.
