Boys prep basketball | District tourneys start Monday

Published: February 3, 2013

Area boys high school basketball teams are going to have to be road warriors to prolong their postseasons. Except for Out-of-Door Academy, which is hosting the entire Class 3A-District 10 tournament, every area team will have to win a district semifinal away from home to qualify for the region tourney. Boys basketball district tournaments begin Monday with sixth-seeded Manatee visiting third-seeded Braden River in a Class 7A-District 11 quarterfinal. The area’s lone No. 1 seed, Cardinal Mooney, opens postseason play at 5 p.m. Tuesday at ODA in the Class 3A-District 10 semifinals. Palmetto, which made the area’s longest tournament run last season by getting to the region title game, opens at Seminole Osceola on Wednesday in a Class 6A-District 12 semifinal. -- Herald staff report
