Braden River ralliesby Lakewood Ranch

The Braden River boys basketball team outscored rival Lakewood Ranch 23-11 in the third quarter Thursday on the way to a 54-42 victory on the road.

Trevon Young led the Pirates (15-8) with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Terrance Cummings had 11 points, and Zechariah Kendall poured in 10.

The Mustangs got 11 points from Cole Theodoropolus.

Juco baseball

STATE COLLEGE OF FLORIDA 5, INDIAN RIVER STATE COLLEGE 3 -- Orlando Rivera laced three hits, and Julian Santos, Jarrett Smith and Dalton Busby had two hits apiece as the visiting Manatees improved to 2-3.

Righty Robbie Kalas got the victory, going six innings and striking out seven. Three SCF players had two hits each. They are CF Julian Santos, SS Jarrett Smith and DH Dalton Busby.

SCF (2-3) plays at 6 p.m. Friday at home against the University of Tampa junior varsity.
