ST. PETERSBURG -- A body was found floating in Tampa Bay Thursday afternoon, police say.
A passerby discovered the body at about 5:15 p.m. in the water near the seawall in the 300 block of Bayshore Drive, across the street from the Mahaffey Theater.
This does not appear to be related to the case of missing Bradenton boater Patrick Mullins, St. Petersburg police say. Mullins was last seen Sunday. His empty boat was recovered floating near Egmont Key on Monday.
The St. Petersburg victim was a male wearing a jogging suit. According to a news release, identification found in the victim's pockets indicate he was 73 years old and lived in St. Petersburg. The cause of death is still under investigation. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
