Change for some Alateen group meetings

MANATEE -- Two of the five Alateen meetings in the Manatee/Sarasota area are undergoing a location and/or time change.

"New Paths Alateen Group" has changed meeting locations from Manatee Glens Walk-In Center on Sixth Avenue West to Church of the Cross, 5051 26th St. W., Bradenton. The meeting time and day have changed from 6 p.m. on Wednesdays to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Al-Anon Groups meet in that location at the same time. The meetings are about an hour.

The Alateen Group that meets on Thursdays at Siesta Key Chapel has changed the meeting to an hour later -- 8 p.m. when the AA and Al-Anon Groups meet. The chapel is at 4615 Gleason Ave., Sarasota.

Alateen is a program for young people whose lives have been affected by a family or friend's problem drinking. Alateen is a part of Al-Anon, a recovery program for adults whose lives have been similarly affected. AA is for recovering alcoholics.

The other Alateen meetings are held at:

n Woodland Baptist Church, 9607 State Road 70, Bradenton, Mondays, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.

n Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 6101 Cortez Road, Bradenton - Thursdays, 7 - 8 p.m.

n St. Wilfred Episcopal Church, 3373 Wilkinson Road, Sarasota, Tuesdays, 7 - 8 p.m.
