$24,000 in jewelry, watches taken in E. Manatee burglary

MANATEE -- Someone stole about $24,000 in jewelry and watches from a home in the Waterlefe subdivision in East Manatee during a burglary Monday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The burglar or burglars pried open the front door of a residence in the 900 block of Fish Hook Cove and ransacked the house. However, they left untouched several computers and televisions and a new Mercedes parked in the garage, according to a news release.

They removed the watches and jewelry from the master bedroom, then fled the scene, according to the sheriff's office

The break-in happened between 3 and 5 p.m. Monday, according to the report.
