MANATEE Manatee County Sheriffs deputies located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the parking lot of Michiana Motel, 3200 block of 14th Street West, and subsequently arrested two persons about 11:55 p.m. Saturday.
About nine minutes after deputies arrived on the scene, Rumonda Neasman, 42, and Cedick Mitchell, 40, entered the vehicle. Deputies moved in before they could leave the scene and challenged them, according to the sheriffs office.
Neasman immediately complied, but Mitchell ducked down, exited the vehicle and crawled away.
Mitchell threw something under the vehicle which was later determined to be five pieces of rock cocaine and marijuana wrapped in tin foil. Mitchell still did not comply and would not show his hands. He dove under the vehicle at which point police dog Rex was released to apprehend him, the sheriffs office reported.
Mitchell was bitten on the upper left biceps area, where he received punctures. Emergency Medical Services responded and treated him on the scene. Mitchell was taken to Manatee Memorial for further treatment. He was charged with motor vehicle theft, possession of controlled substance without a prescription, and resisting/obstructing an officer without violence.
Neasman was arrested for possession of marijuana.
