Congratulations to Doug Wagner, winner of a distinguished award from the International Technology and Engineering Educator's Association for "outstanding performance, leadership and accomplishments in the field of technology and engineering education."

As the Manatee County School District's director of Adult, Career and Technical Education, Wagner has worked diligently to improve opportunities for his students -- especially through Manatee Technical Institute. The recent opening of the new MTI campus ranks as one of his crowning achievements.

The ITEEA award, bestowed by peer reviewers, is based on documented evidence. The association's letter announcing the honor this week states:

"We are enthusiastic in providing you with this earned honor and have great confidence in your leadership, knowledge and passion for technology and engineering education. We thank you for your investment in students, and have a deep level of respect for your unique abilities to inspire, engage and lead learners toward their future."

Well said.
