Gunman robs man in Palmetto

MANATEE -- A gunman robbed a Palmetto man as he arrived at his residence Friday morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 10:50 a.m., the victim was in the parking lot of his apartment complex, 900 21st Street East, Palmetto, when a small, light blue SUV pulled up alongside him. A passenger got out, came up to the victim with a small semi-automatic pistol down to his side and demanded the victim's money, according to a news release.

The victim tossed him his wallet, and the suspect got back in the SUV and fled the scene, according to the sheriff's office.
