MANATEE -- A 31-year-old Manatee man has been arrested in an undercover operation and charged with attempted battery on a person younger than 12.

Timothy Jasonis was arrested Thursday -- his birthday -- after an undercover operation on a social network site, according to a Manatee sheriff's report. Jasonis responded to an ad posted by an undercover detective who was posing as a mother looking for someone to teach her 11-year-old daughter about sex, the report states.

Jasonis told the undercover detective he would have sex with the 11-year-old and arranged a meeting to carry out the act, detectives said. Jasonis arrived at the location and was arrested without incident.

Detectives arrested Jasonis and also charged him with travel to entice a parent to consent to commit sex acts with a child, and use of a computer to entice a parent of a child to commit sex acts on a child.

Jasonis was being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.
