Bradenton man seriously hurt in one-vehicle crash

MANATEE -- A 20-year-old Bradenton man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A news release said the man was driving a Ford Explorer southbound on River Club Boulevard approaching Clubhouse Drive when he fell asleep at the wheel.

The vehicle drifted into the median, striking a tree. The driver was taken to Blake Medical Center with serious injuries, the news release said. The crash investigation is continuing; charges are pending, the FHP said.
