The New York Yankees have agreed to terms with pitcher Phil Hughes on a one-year contract, thus avoiding arbitration.
Hughes made 32 starts for the Bronx Bombers last season, compiling a 16-13 record with a 4.23 earned run average.
The 23rd overall pick in the 2004 amateur draft, Hughes has spent all six seasons with the Yankees, posting a 52-36 record with a 4.39 ERA in 152 games (103 starts).
