MANATEE -- The Powel Crosley Theater, which is run by Manatee County's Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, did not offer its traditional "A Victorian Christmas" production in December.

The theater will also not be producing shows this winter or spring.

Anne Van Wormer, the business manager for the Bradenton Area Convention Center and Powel Crosley Estate, said the county workers who run the theater "got too busy with other things this year."

She cited the visitor bureau's recent rebranding endeavor and renovation of the Bradenton Area Convention Center as the main reasons.

Productions at The Powel Crosley Theater will return this fall, Van Wormer said, with a 2013-2014 theater season starting with a performance based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

In December, the Crosley plans to bring back its "A Victorian Christmas."
