Manasota-88 to discuss Mote dolphin project

SARASOTA -- ManaSota-88 will meet at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Sierra Club office, 2815 Proctor Road, Sarasota.

Nigel Mould will discuss Mote Marine Laboratory's Dolphin Research Project.

Braden River Library book sale set for this week

EAST MANATEE -- Friends of Braden River Library's book sale will be this week at the Braden River Branch Library, 4915 53rd Ave. E.

Friends members preview sale opens 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Memberships are available at the door.

The sale will be open to the public 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Free disaster preparedness class planned for Saturday

BRADENTON -- Manatee County Neighborhood Services Department and the National Sheriffs' Association will host an all-hazards Homeland Security initiative community partnership and awareness training for disaster preparedness class 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Manatee County Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd.

The class is free. Training will include how to create a family disaster plan; what to include in a family disaster kit; developing a community resource data base; crisis response; chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive information; terrorism awareness and a desktop exercise specific to Manatee County.
